EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY

Convenor: Teresa Valencak (University of Veterinary Medicine)

The practice of science is challenging and complicated, and academia is difficult to navigate. Often, scientists are hampered by issues that are not purely science-related, including those of discrimination and non-inclusion.

The Equality and Diversity (E&D) group aims to support members to better deal with tasks in the area of unconscious bias and the need to sustain one’s position in challenging situations. The group is committed to inclusivity and diversity and is sensitive to societal changes and their consequences for experimental scientists.

Our Meetings and Events

Diversity Dinner

At the SEB Annual Meeting, we run a Diversity Dinner where we host outstanding role models or experts to share their experiences or stimulate areas of discussion. Furthermore, we examine our own practices to ensure fairness with respect to all areas of opportunity offered by the SEB.

Please get in touch if you wish to be involved in the group or if we can support you to help you reach your goal.
