Anne Osterrieder

Science Communication Group Convenor

Anne leads a double life as a Lecturer in Biology and Science Communication at the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, Oxford Brookes University. For half of her time, she studies the endomembrane system in plant cells with a focus on the Golgi apparatus, the ‘post office’ of the cell.

The rest of the time, she is on a mission to embed science communication and public engagement into the research culture of the Faculty. She organises science communication training sessions and seminars for staff and students. She also coordinates and organises public engagement events for a variety of audiences, using different communication forms. These range from hands-on activities to expressing science through poetry and short stories or cell biology music videos. Anne has a special interest in online science communication and the use of social media in academia and research.
