The European Strategic Forum for Research Infrastructure (ESFRI) has identified Plant Phenotyping as a priority for the European research area and EMPHASIS (European Infrastructure for Multi-Scale Plant Phenotyping And Simulation for Food Security in a Changing Climate) has been listed on the ESFRI Roadmap. EMPHASIS is an infrastructure project to develop and implement a pan-European plant phenotyping infrastructure, based on the demands from scientists from academia, industry, technology developers and appliers in the field of plant phenotyping.

In this meeting, we specifically address plant phenotyping in countries in northern Europe as part of a series of regional conferences that aim at close interaction with the plant phenotyping community. In this context, EMPHASIS-PREP, an EU funded project aims at developing a business plan and sound legal framework for the establishment of a long- term sustainable pan-European phenotyping infrastructure.
The meeting is organised in three parts including presentations and interactive discussion:
  • Information about EMPHASIS and EMPHASIS-PREP
  • What is the status of the plant phenotyping in northern European countries
  • How to advance the European plant phenotyping community?
