Royal Microscopical Society - The RMS Learning Zone comes to the SEB

The Learning Zone is an outreach activity of the Royal Microscopical Society.

Updating and improving your skills are essential components of career development. But, with looming deadlines, proposals to write, and papers to submit, they can be all too easy to overlook. The RMS Learning Zone helps to address this problem. It offers scientists and technicians the opportunity to learn new techniques from microscopy experts and the chance to discuss difficulties they may be having with specimen preparation or imaging.

  • As part of the Royal Microscopical Society's remit to teach and improve microscopy, the RMS Learning Zone isFREE to all SEB registrants.
  • The RMS Learning Zone will be a major feature of the Exhibition and will give visitors the chance to practise and trouble-shoot light and fluorescence microscopy techniques, with experts available on-hand to answer questions and give practical advice and one-to-one tuition.
  • No questions or problems are too small or large to ask.  Do you need a refresher course in how to set up a light microscope?  Do you understand phase contrast, or the optics of attaching a digital camera to a microscope?  Would you like to learn more about immunohistochemistry?  Come along and talk to one of the RMS members at the Learning Zone.
  • The Learning Zone will be open all day throughout the SEB conference, from 10 am each day.  We will be running short seminars at 12.30 pm during the lunch hour on the following topics:

1)  Understanding the light microscope (Sunday and Tuesday)

2)  An introduction to Immunohistochemistry (Monday and Wednesday)

Whatever your interest in microscopy may be, come along and talk to us.
