SEB Animal Symposium 2012 - "Woodstock"
“Woodstock 2012” is a tribute to Prof Chris Wood, who continues to be an inspiration to many scientists throughout the world. Indeed, it is difficult to overstate his contributions to the field of comparative physiology and the training of comparative physiologists. He has contributed to many areas of comparative physiology with over 500 career publications in international, peer-reviewed journals. He has trained a generation of comparative physiologists, with more than 30 former trainees now in academic or government research positions. He has pioneered research in a variety of areas in comparative physiology including metal metabolism, nitrogen excretion, ionic regulation, gas transport, acid-base balance, cardiovascular control, exercise, digestion and ecotoxicology, and his body of work has made major contributions to academic text books.
To reflect Chris’s research activities and scientific ethos, a diverse research program with a strong comparative approach has been proposed. The program includes plenary lectures, invited presentations and a contributed poster session featuring the world’s leading authorities in comparative physiology and representatives from a new generation of researchers who have been mentored directly or inspired indirectly by Chris’ research.
Plenary speakers
Dave Randall (City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong)
Warren Burggren (University of North Texas, USA)
Göran Nilsson (University of Oslo, Norway)
