SEB Bulletin July 2006 - SEB Sponsored University Talks
Thank you again for the financial help at the occasion of having John Bryant in Antwerpen. For my colleague Willem Lemmens and me, as responsible academics, February 14th was a crucial day: the very first seminar in the course on Bioethics. It brings together this year 45 Biology students (second Bachelor year) and 30 Philosophy students (second and third Bachelor year). The two lecturers were J. Bryant as biologist and Stefaan Cuypers (univ. of Leuven) as philosopher. John did a brillant job; his routine in this matter came quickly to the surface as he managed to get students arguing during the coffee break that followed his speech. In the morning he was interviewed by two journalists of the popular scientific magazien EOS - carrying the copyright of Scientific American for the dutch speaking area of Europe, and attracting a similar readership.
