Applicants seeking to develop interdisciplinary dimensions by integrating new techniques or methodologies into their research are particularly encouraged. Up to 10 Fellowships are available for scientists who are full-time members of academic staff of a UK university and who at 1 October 2007 will have worked for a minimum of 5 years in their current or similar post.
Professorial Fellowships: These fellowships aim to support world-class scientists with a proven track record of developing new and innovative directions of research and who have the potential to use a fellowship to open up dramatic and novel lines of work. Up to 2 Fellowships are available for scientists who are already recognised at an international level as outstanding researchers with exceptional research and interpretative achievements. Awards are for a period of 5 years and provide a significant research support grant to cover the costs of the research programme.
