The above registration fees include the following:

  • Admission to all scientific lectures and poster session

European Aquaculture Society (EAS) Members

Optional half day tours (12 April 2018)

To make the most of your time in the Azores, we will be organising three optional 1/2 day tours taking place in the afternoon on 12 April. When registering for the symposium, please make sure you select the tour which you would like to take part in and more details on the tours can be found below:

Tour 1 - Pineapple plantation visit

Participants have the opportunity to visit pineapple plantations on São Miguel island and observe a research project that intends to reuse the pineapple sub products.

Tour 2 - Visit to the Geothermal Power Plant of Pico Vermelho

Participants have the opportunity to visit the Geothermal Power Plant of Pico Vermelho (Ribeira Grande). This power plant has a net power of 10 MW and an annual output of 80 GWh with a recharge factor of 92%, took about 60 months to be built and reached a total investment of around 34.4 million euros. With the start-up of this plant, the contribution of geothermal origin to the São Miguel island electric power system in 2007 was of the order of 37%.

Tour 3 - Whale watching

Participants have the opportunity to observe species of cetaceans usually seen in the Azores which is currently one of the world's largest whale sanctuaries. Nature offers no guarantees, however whales and dolphins are regularly spotted during the rides. Participants also have the opportunity to observe other species such as turtles, birds and others.

Cancellation policy

Cancellations before 5 March 2018 will incur a £50 administration charge. No refunds will be made for cancellations received after 5 March 2018.
