FUNDING FOR ATTENDING THE SEB 2021 ANNUAL CONFERENCE

Please re Mad the following information as you could be eligible for a grant to cover your registration fees at the SEB Annual Conference 2021.

Reduced fees for all

Traditionally, the SEB offers £20,000 worth of travel grants to support students and Early Career Scientists (ECSs) presenting at our annual conference. With this year’s conference taking place virtually, the SEB has decided to reallocate these funds to provide highly affordable registrations fees for all SEB members attending our conference, particularly for students and ECS. Registration fees start from just £20.

The Company of Biologists Sponsored Registration for Students and Early Career Scientists

Deadline: 9 May 2021 midnight BST (or when funds run out)

If you have held a student or Early Career Scientist SEB membership for more than 1 years, or currently hold a multiyear membership, you are also eligible for "The Company of Biologists" grant. This will cover your full registration fees at the SEB Annual Conference 2021. If this applies to you, you can fill out this simple form to access your unique free registration link.

Applications will be judged on a first come first served basis so we encourage you to apply early.

Not a current SEB Member? 

If you are not currently an SEB member, or your membership has expired you can still qualify to apply for a grant, see below:

  • If your membership expired less than 3 months ago , renew your SEB membership now to become eligible for "The Company of Biologists grant" covering your registration fees for the Annual Conference
  • If your membership expired more than 3 months ago you can renew your SEB membership for two years or with a multi-year subscription if you qualify and you can then apply for a free sponsored place at the conference  
  • If you have never been an SEB member, Apply to join the SEB now with a multi-year membership (i.e. 3 years) to qualify for the Company of Biologists grant covering your registration fees for the Annual Conference

Free attendance for ECS/Students in low- or middle-income countries

The SEB is incredibly pleased to announce that we will offer free registration to students and ECSs residing in a low- or middle-income countries without the need to sign up for SEB membership - no strings attached!

Refer a Colleague

This year, our ambition is to make the SEB 2021 Annual Conference our most international and accessible conference yet!

The SEB therefore invites you to refer a colleague residing in a county other than your own.

Send on an invitation to one of your research collaborators that you work with every day but have yet to meet, to invite them to the SEB Annual Conference so you can experience it together. 

If they are based in a low- or middle-income country*, their registration fee will be waived.

Your student and ECS colleagues in a high-income countries* can also be eligible for free registration if they join the SEB as a multiyear member and apply for The Company of Biologists sponsored place at the meeting.

*High, medium, and low-income countries are defined as per the world bank classification. Please see here for a full list of eligible countries . The SEB considers ECS to be science professionals and researchers who have completed their highest level of degree no more than 6 years ago.
