Visas
Some foreign citizens are required to apply for a visa before travelling to Italy. More information on visa requirements can be found here.
Currency
The currency used in Florence is the Euro (EUR). Bank notes are most regularly available in values of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 whilst coins come in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10 ,20 and 50 cents, and 1 and 2 euros.
Credit cards
Major credit and debit cards are accepted widely in shops, restaurants hotels and taxis. Restrictions may apply to American Express and Diners.
Foreign exchange facilities
A number of exchange offices are located in central Florence and at the airports. Please enquire at your hotel reception for the closest office and opening hours.
Electronics
The electrical current in Italy is 220V/50Hz. Round European-style two-pin plugs are used.
