This is a two-part interactive course that will give you the chance to use your own research plan to identify and bring on board new collaborators, stakeholders and funders.

Course Outline

Writing a grant from scratch can feel like a massive undertaking that is overwhelming when we are already stretched for time. In this workshop you will learn how to define your high-level concept and generate a fully functional research design plan. Use templates to translate your visual plan into successful grant applications and breakdown the plan into micro actions to get you there with time to spare before the deadline.

You will learn what a fundable grant proposal looks like and how to develop your research idea into a high-quality grant application. Participants will gain top tips for successful bidding and collaboration and how to develop research ideas for multi-disciplinary projects.

Learning outcomes

• Defining your high-level concept and the importance of targeting your grant applications

• The 9 key features of a good grant application

• Using your research plan to identify and bring on board new stakeholders and collaborators

• What funders are looking for beyond the science in a successful submission

• How grant awarding decisions are made

Course Delivery

The course will be delivered by a trainer with extensive experience in (successful!) grant applications and over £7.8M in grant funding over 4 years. Participants will be provided with valuable tools necessary for actively pursuing research funding. They will gain a detailed insight into the grant writing process and will leave with the knowledge and ability to confidently plan, complete and submit an application. with time to spare.

There are two identical courses running to allow the maximum amount of people to join from all time zones.

The first course will run in two parts over two mornings from 9:30 -11:30 am (UK time) on both the 14th and 16th September 2021.

The second course will run over two afternoons from 14:00 - 16:00 pm (UK time) on the 27th and 28th September 2021.

All are welcome no matter you disaplin or career stage!
