The Global Plant Council are putting together a new working group to help raise awareness of the obligations to respect access and benefit-sharing rights under the Convention on Biodiversity, the FAO Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources, and the Nagoya Protocols on Access and Benefit Sharing.

The working group will encourage scientists to learn about the obligations applicable in their country, organisations, or work topic and contribute to effective policies.
Plant scientists need to know about and have a voice on this.

More information on the topic of open access needs of plant scientists and the benefit-sharing rights associated with plant material, please read this GPC blog post by Ros Gleadow, Brad Sherman, and Robert Henry.

The first working group will take place on the week of the 22-26 Feburary 2021.

If you are interested in joining the working group or if you have any questions please contact the Global Plant Council’s Chief Communications Officer, Isabel Mendoza, at
