Oxidative eustress, distress and ecophysiology
With the recent formal redefinition of oxidative stress, distinguishing between oxidative eustress and oxidative distress, we are presented with an intriguing opportunity to reexamine and deepen our understanding of life history strategies. Oxidative eustress, characterized as a "beneficial" form of oxidative stress, prompts several thought-provoking questions about its impact on animal physiology and life history trade-offs, particularly regarding survival, growth, and reproduction.
I invite you to share your insights, experiences, and research findings on the following aspect: What are the challenges in identifying and measuring oxidative eustress in ecological and physiological studies? How can we differentiate it effectively from oxidative distress in various scenarios?
Warm regards,
Daniel
