Programme

As panellists are confirmed, we will update this webpage.

Session 1: Researchers and engagement

A panel of researchers will share their experiences of engaging with the media and policy worlds. They will discuss why researchers should care about how evidence is used and reported on and share their advice and top tips for helping researchers work with the media and policymakers.

Session 2: What journalists and policy makers are looking for

A panel of journalists and policy professionals will explain how they approach reporting science, how evidence is used in policy and what both worlds need from scientists to work effectively.

Session 3: Having difficult conversations about science

In this final session, we will discuss where current public conversations around science are going wrong. What are the difficult conversations about science and evidence you have been involved with and what made them challenging? Drawing on Sense about Science’s experience at the frontline of dealing with issues where science and society collide, we will share some tools we have developed and also identify gaps where new tools and resources could help you.
