Introducing the new SEB Trustee structure for 2025 and beyond

In May this year, members were invited to put forward nominations for the 2025 trustee elections. The two successful nominees were two brilliant trustees, who have offered their expertise to be re-appointed to new roles in the SEB council. As part of our ongoing commitment of transparency and member engagement, we invited members to attend and vote on these appointments at a special meeting held on 10th June 2025.
As a result of this meeting, we are pleased to confirm the upcoming appointments of two long-standing members of Council to new Trustee roles, following the outcomes of the 2025 election process.
Professor Tracy Lawson, who was due to complete her term as SEB President in July 2025, has been appointed as Treasurer for a four-year term starting from 8 July 2025.

In addition, Professor John Love, the current SEB Treasurer due to retire from that post in July 2027, will transition into a new role as Vice President (and subsequently President) for a combined four-year term also starting from 8 July 2025.

These appointments reflect the Society’s commitment to stable and experienced leadership.
Their knowledge and expertise will be invaluable as SEB moves forward with our 2025-2030 strategic goals, in an increasingly challenging landscape for experimental biologists
We warmly thank Tracy and John for their continued service and look forward to the next chapter of their leadership within the SEB.
