The SEB Mentoring Scheme is back for 2026–2027, bringing together SEB members from across the experimental biology community to support professional development, share experience and build meaningful connections.

There are only a few days left to register for one of our online briefing sessions on 8 or 9 October.

The briefing sessions will introduce you to the mentoring scheme, explain how it works and explore the skills and practical tools that can help you build a successful mentoring relationship. They also provide an opportunity to meet other SEB members and discover potential mentor or mentee matches.

Which session should I attend?

  • Session 1 – 8 October, 11am–1pm UK time

This session is designed for members who are new to the SEB Mentoring Scheme. It will introduce the scheme, explore mentoring skills and practices, and provide practical guidance for building a confident and effective mentoring partnership.

  • Session 2 – 9 October, 10am–12pm UK time

This session is aimed primarily at experienced mentors and members who have previously taken part in the scheme. It will explore more advanced approaches to mentoring, including reflective practice, real-world challenges and practical tools for effective mentoring conversations. New and returning mentees are also welcome.

If you cannot attend either live session, a recorded training option is available.

The scheme is open to researchers at all career stages and is free and exclusive to SEB members. Following the briefing, participants who wish to continue will complete a short form about their interests and development goals, helping SEB create suitable mentor–mentee matches.

Mentoring can help you build professional networks, gain new perspectives, develop skills, explore career opportunities and support the development of others.

Don't miss your chance to get involved in the SEB Mentoring Scheme 2027.
