Christophe Tatout

Christophe is professor in genetics and epigenetics at Université Clermont Auvergne (UCA), Department of Biology and leads a research team at the Institute of Genetics, Reproduction and Development (iGReD).

In the early part of his scientific career (1990-1999), he contributed to Drosophila genetics working on transposable elements and Polycomb regulation, then moved to industry to lead maize and wheat genomic projects before joining UCA as a Professor in 2009. From 2017-2021 Christophe chaired the COST-Action INDEPTH (CA16212, Impact of Nuclear Domains On Gene Expression and Plant Traits; https://www.brookes.ac.uk/indepth/) bringing together researchers working towards a better understanding of how epigenetics and nuclear structure modulate gene expression to regulate complex plant traits.

He is heading the Master of bioinformatics at UCA and applies 3D imaging methods to study nuclear dynamics. His current research focuses on how chromatin domains are formed, maintained and positioned in nuclear space in particular through interaction with protein components of the nuclear envelope. To investigate this question, he developed specific image analysis methods for 3D nuclei.

Aline Probst

Aline Probst is a CNRS researcher at the GReD Institute in Clermont-Ferrand. Her research interests include chromatin and nuclear organization.

During her previous work in both plant and mammalian model systems, she elucidated the role of chromatin modifiers and non-coding RNAs in the formation of higher order heterochromatin structures during development.

Her lab is currently investigating how nucleosome composition, histone modifications, and 3D chromatin organization are dynamically remodeled to adapt the gene expression program in response to environmental cues or during development.

To this end, the team uses genetics, molecular biology and epigenomic approaches coupled to 3D-bioimaging in Arabidopsis and oilseed rape.

Olivier Mathieu

Olivier Mathieu obtained his doctorate in 2003 at Blaise Pascal University in Clermont-Ferrand. He then joined Johns Hopkins University in the United States and then the University of Geneva in Switzerland for postdoctoral internships.

In 2006, he was recruited at the CNRS as a research fellow and continued his work on secondment to the University of Geneva.

At the end of 2008, he joined the GReD laboratory in Clermont-Ferrand and, since 2010, has led the “SiLENT” team which is interested in epigenetic regulatory pathways.

Margaux Olivier

Margaux is a postdoctoral research scientist at the GReD Institute within the team led by Olivier Mathieu (https://www.igred.fr/en/team/silent/).

Her main area of interest lies in genome stability. During her doctoral studies from 2013 to 2017, she focused on elucidating the regulatory mechanisms governing telomeric homeostasis in Arabidopsis thaliana. Subsequently, she initiated a research project aimed at identifying and characterizing genes responsible for DNA methylation in wheat (2019-2021).

She currently working on molecular mechanisms underlying epigenetic silencing in Arabidopsis, where she is defining how the composition and modification of the chromatin influence the dynamics of transposable elements.
