Welcome to the Conservation Physiology Discussion Board!
Hello everyone,
Hope you’re all doing well! Following the SEB Antwerp conference, our group welcomed new members - welcome on board! And of course, a warm hello again to our long-standing members.
This is the very first message on our updated Conservation Physiology discussion board. SEB members have invested a huge amount of time into this version, which will make it easier for us to communicate, share documents/information/news, and schedule community meetings through one unique platform.
I encourage you to explore the ConsPhy board and start sharing your ideas, news, and events with the entire community!
Here’s a quick overview of the main sections:
• Meetings: Schedule and notify the group about upcoming community events.
• Documents: Upload and share papers, event flyers, working documents, surveys, agendas, and more.
• Discussions: Where you found this message—use this space to engage with other members of our community.
When starting a conversation or uploading a document, you can choose to notify all group members, subscribe to notifications, and/or post anonymously.
We’re looking forward to meeting and chatting with all of you!
I’d also like to highlight a few opportunities and resources you might find interesting:
• Conservation Physiology Journal Webinar Series
In partnership with the Society for Experimental Biology, Community Conversations is a new webinar series aimed at early-career researchers building a career in conservation physiology or related fields. Topics will include academic publishing, scientific writing, and developing collaborations. The first speaker will be Dr. Steven Cooke, the journal’s Founding Editor and previous Editor-in-Chief, reflecting on his pathway to co-produced science and its impact for conservation. More information can be found here: https://www.sebiology.org/events/ems-event-calendar/conphys-conversations-1.html
• SEB Annual Conference 2026 (Florence) – Session Proposals
The deadline for session proposals closes today! We’d love to see sessions related to our SIG’s focus, so please consider submitting a proposal. https://www.sebiology.org/events/propose-a-session-or-event/session-proposal-form.html
If you’d like support, we can connect you with previous session organizers for advice, or link you with others preparing proposals so you can co-chair or shadow them.
• SEB Awards – Nominations Open
Let’s celebrate the success of our community members! Consider nominating someone for the SEB presidents medal (early- to mid-career researchers) or the plenary lecture award (more established researchers).

If you have questions please get in touch with me directly ([email protected]).
My aim is to create a welcoming community that supports everyone with an interest in Conservation Physiology in their research and career development.
If you have a colleague who is a member of SEB and would like to join this SIG (or thinks they are already a member but didn’t receive this email), please share this link to the SEB group discussion board. Here they can click the button to join our community. https://www.sebiology.org/group/conservation-physiology-group.html
Looking forward to what we’ll achieve together!

Gina - Welcome to the SEB, great to see new members engaging! We have members from over 54 different countries but quite a large proportion are based in the UK :)
I'm based in the UK. Is most of the group UK-based as well or elsewhere around the world?
