OED Gen-AI Symposium: Abstract registration closes this week
LAST CHANCE TO SUBMIT YOUR ABSTRACT FOR THE OUTREACH, EDUCATION AND DIVERSITY SYMPOSIUM
We would like to remind you that abstract submission for the Practical and Inclusive Approaches to using Gen-AI in Higher Education will close this week on Thursday 12th March 2026.
This two-day symposium centres around the rapidly evolving role of Generative AI (Gen-AI) in education, bringing together students, educators, and researchers to share insights, develop practical skills, and shape future practice. This will be delivered through a schedule of keynote talks, short presentations, workshops, and a facilitated roundtable discussion. This event aims to be both informative and hands-on practical skills to provide delegates with opportunities to increase confidence with use of Gen-AI tools. Not limited to the conceptual, it is intended that delegates will be able to use the practical opportunities to design activities, approaches or resources for direct use within their job role.
Delegates will have the opportunity to experiment directly with Generative AI tools, design or refine teaching and assessment activities, and consider how to embed inclusive and ethical approaches in their own work. The symposium aims to build confidence, encourage collaboration across perspectives, and support the development of responsible, practical, and innovative uses of Gen-AI within educational settings. Networking opportunities throughout the programme, including an informal evening drinks event, will help build delegates connect and share learning across the community.
The aims of the symposium are:
-
To provide delegates with an opportunity to design activities and assessment that take into account ethical use of Gen-AI
-
To increase delegate confidence in using Gen-AI in their own working practices
-
To build a mutual understanding of how Gen-AI can be used in a way that considers and values diverse perspectives, needs, and experiences and ensures that the benefits of Gen-AI are accessible to all members of society.
-
Contribute to a collective output of a published perspective article that captures the insights and priorities from across our educational community.
In-person registration closes on Thursday 19th March 2026, and virtual registration closes on Thursday 26th March 2026
