Relive the Highlights of the SEB Annual Conference 2026 in Florence

The SEB Annual Conference 2026 has come to a close, and what an incredible week it has been!

From 7–10 July, researchers from across the world came together in the beautiful city of Florence, Italy, to share the latest advances in experimental biology, exchange ideas, build new collaborations and reconnect with colleagues old and new.

Throughout the week, delegates enjoyed an outstanding scientific programme featuring plenary lectures, symposia, workshops, poster sessions and networking events, alongside numerous opportunities to explore one of Europe's most iconic cultural destinations.

A huge thank you goes to everyone who attended the conference. Your enthusiasm, curiosity and willingness to share your research are what make the SEB Annual Conference such a unique and welcoming event year after year.

We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to our speakers, session organisers, exhibitors, sponsors, volunteers and the many individuals working behind the scenes whose dedication made this year's conference possible.

Unfortunately, SEB President Gudrun De Boeck was unable to join us in Florence due to unforeseen circumstances.
While we greatly missed having her with us, we know she was with us in spirit and would like to thank everyone for their understanding and support.

A special thank you also goes to John Love, our Vice-President, who kindly stepped in on Gudrun's behalf throughout the conference and did an excellent job hosting the Awards Dinner, helping to ensure the evening was a memorable celebration of the outstanding achievements within our community.

Whether you were presenting your latest findings, attending inspiring talks, meeting future collaborators or simply enjoying conversations over coffee, we hope you leave Florence with new ideas, lasting connections and wonderful memories.
