The Conservation Physiology “Community Conversations, Exploring beyond the human lens.jpg

This session will take place on:

  • Tuesday 17th March 2026
  • Time: 14:00 - 15:00 (UK time)

Once you register, you will be sent the Zoom link and joining details 1 day before the event.

There is an opportunity on the booking form to let us know if you have any accessibility requirements so we can help everyone to engage and access this webinar.

The webinar is on the topic of "Exploring Beyond the Human Lens." Brian Helmuth will discuss his role with Cousteau’s Proteus and the value of living underwater as a saturation diver as a case study for the role of exploration and removing the “human lens” when trying to understand how organisms face environmental challenges, and what that means for how we design conservation physiology studies.

OED Webinar Series

The Outreach, Education and Diversity (OED) Webinar Series is a series of events that will run every 2 months. They will be free to attend and are designed to support our community of educators, from research and teaching-focused staff, looking to improve their teaching, develop skills, and build a network of like-minded colleagues.

Running across the year, each 45-minute session will focus on themes within the Outreach, Education, and Diversity (OED) remit. There will be a couple of short talks (usually 15 minutes) and group discussions. Occasionally, the sessions will take the format of a workshop to share ideas, experiences, and practical approaches.

Sessions will be recorded (where speakers agree) and made available on the SEB website and YouTube, ensuring ongoing access for the wider community.

If you would like to suggest a topic or volunteer to speak, please contact Amanda Rasmussen ([email protected]).

Join the OED Working Group

If you are keen to get more involved with the SEB and help shape our work in outreach, education and diversity, join our OED Working Group. This is a friendly community of SEB members who share ideas, promote discussion, and help us strengthen our activities in these areas. More information and a form to sign up here!
