Conservation Physiology Early-Career Researcher Poster Prize
Conservation physiology provides critical mechanistic insights into how organisms respond to environmental change and other stressors. Early-career researchers play a key role in advancing this field; however, there is little targeted recognition of outstanding early-career researchers' contributions. The new Conservation Physiology Early-Career Researcher Poster Prize, to be awarded at the Society for Experimental Biology (SEB) Annual Conference, will recognise and promote excellence by emerging researchers in the field.
Eligibility
The prize is open to Early-Career Researchers working in the field of conservation physiology who are presenting a poster at the SEB Annual Conference. Early-career researchers are defined as current postgraduate students (Master's or PhD), or researchers within 5 years of completing their highest degree (excluding career breaks).
Judging Criteria
Posters will be evaluated by a panel of judges that may include editors of Conservation Physiology, members of the SEB Conservation Physiology Special Interest Group, or invited experts. Posters will be evaluated using the following criteria:
- Scientific merit
- Innovation and impact
- Relevance to conservation challenges, policy or management
- Clarity, structure, and visual quality of poster
- Engagement with judges during poster sessions
Award
The judging panel will select one winner, who will be invited to submit their work to Conservation Physiology, with publication fees waived. The winner will also receive a copy of the textbook “Conservation Physiology Applications for Wildlife Conservation and Management”, a Conservation Physiology t-shirt, and a certificate. Two runners-up will be selected and will each receive a Conservation Physiology t-shirt and a certificate. The winner and runners-up will be announced at the SEB meeting and on the Journal’s social media channels.
How to Apply
Those meeting the eligibility criteria above may apply for the award when registering for the SEB conference, by ticking the box in the submission form reading “if you are an early-career researcher presenting a poster in the field of conservation physiology and would like to be considered for the Conservation Physiology Early Career Researcher Poster Prize, please tick this box”. At the SEB conference, entrants should also collect a sticker to display on or next to their poster, from the Conservation Physiology stand at the conference.
