Although wildlife have remarkable capacity to respond to environmental change, many species face complex stressors that may compromise their ability to persist. In her research, Dr. Bryan elucidates the ways by which wildlife respond to environmental change using measures of individual health (e.g., parasites, hormones, and growth) combined with landscape-level analyses.

Much of her research contributes to and is shaped by longstanding relationships with partners from First Nations, science-based NGOs, government, and academia, with whom she works on wildlife research at scales ranging from local to global. Her talk will draw on key examples from this research, where she has studied the effects of prey availability, climate, landscape change, and exploitation on predator health and ecology.

These case studies highlight the complexity of responses by wildlife to environmental change and underscore the value of using conservation physiology to understand the relative importance of interacting stressors on wildlife health.
