SEB 2022 Annual Conference goes into a hybrid format

We are pleased to announce that our Annual Conference will be going ahead, in a hybrid format!




Here are all the details on the new meeting format, dates and exciting scientific programme we have lined up for you. 

Our 2022 Annual Conference programme has been designed with flexibility and accessibility in mind.

This is why this year, the Conference will take place physically in Montpellier, France but will also take place in a virtual format.

Many features will be available, such as:

  • Virtual attendees will have similar experience to in-person ones.
  • All sessions will be live streamed
  • We will also recording everything and post on the site so they can view later

Meet our Plenary lecturers
Each year at the Annual Conference of the SEB, the work of George Parker Bidder III and Harold Woolhouse are honoured with plenary lectures alongside the Cell Biology plenary lecture.

Young Scientist Award (YSAS) 
The YSAS Award provides the opportunity for postgraduates and postdocs (who are within 5 years since completing their PhD) to showcase their talents and is designed to recognise the best young researchers.
The winners of the award will be announced during the Medal and Prize session.

Irene Manton Poster Prize 
The Irene Manton Poster Prize is open to students and early career scientists presenting a poster at the SEB Annual Conference. A prize of £100 is awarded to the best poster in each section (Animal, Cell, Plant and OED).
The winners of the award will be announced during the Medal and Prize session.

The SEB Annual Conference has been approved by the Royal Society of Biology (RSB) got the purpose of Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Attendance or presenting at the conference will be counted as 84 CPD points. Attendees can record their CPD through the RSB website (mySociety) and upon completion of your CPD year with 50 points achieved or more, will be issued a certificate.


The SEB team and Council are still working hard to finalise all the details of the scientific and social programme to ensure our 2022 Annual Conference is an engaging and exciting meeting. Please do keep an eye out for updates in our newsletters, social media and website!
