The Society for Experimental Biology (SEB) is pleased to share that the UK Parliament’s Knowledge Exchange Unit has opened applications for a new cohort of Thematic Research Leads (TRLs), supported by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).

These prestigious fellowships offer researchers the opportunity to work directly with Parliament on a part-time basis over two years, helping strengthen the use of evidence in policy and decision-making.

The 2027 cohort includes opportunities across several policy areas, including:

  • Health and Life Sciences
  • AI, Digital and Technology
  • Education, Children and Young People
  • Infrastructure and Clean Energy
  • Criminal Justice
  • National Security and Resilience
  • Place-Based Economic Growth

TRLs may contribute by advising select committees, preparing parliamentary briefings and supporting knowledge exchange activities across Parliament.

The fellowship runs from April 2027 to March 2029 at 0.6 FTE, with funding provided by UKRI.

An online information session will take place on 18 June 2026.
