Applications are open until 30 September 2026 for the 2027 Journal of Experimental Botany Editorial Internship programme

The Journal of Experimental Botany (JXB) is now accepting applications for its 2027 Editorial Internship programme, offering early career researchers the chance to gain practical experience of the editorial and peer review process while working alongside leading experts in plant science.

Running part-time throughout 2027, the internship is designed for researchers with 2–8 years of postgraduate or postdoctoral experience (excluding career breaks). Editorial Interns will work closely with JXB Associate Editors, contributing to the editorial assessment of submitted manuscripts, learning about peer review, and developing an understanding of the publishing process from the editor's perspective.

In addition to editorial training, interns will strengthen their science communication skills by writing Insight articles highlighting exciting new research published in JXB, as well as contributing content for the journal's website and social media channels. The programme also includes a small honorarium and one year of free SEB membership.

If you are interested in scientific publishing, editorial decision-making, or communicating plant science to a wider audience, this internship provides an excellent opportunity to broaden your professional experience while continuing your research.

The application deadline is 30 September 2026. Applicants should submit a CV, a cover letter outlining their motivation, and an Insight-style commentary on a recent JXB research paper, following the application guidance provided by the journal.
