A talk focusing on the policies that are in place to protect Australia's plant health and biosecurity

 

Dr Gabrielle Vivian-Smith, Australia's chief plant health protection officer, will be delivering this keynote address, discussing points related to Australia's plant health and biosecurity system. This will be followed by an opportunity for an audience Q&A and discussion chaired by Lucy Carson-Taylor, plant health engagement manager at APHA.

 

Dr Gabrielle Vivian-Smith 

Gabrielle is the chief plant health protection officer (CPHO) of Australia and Australia's delegate at the International Plant Protection Convention's Commission for Phytosanitary Measures. Dr Vivian-Smith leads Australia's national responses to emergency plant pest and disease incursions. Her work aims to protect Australia's plant-based industries and the natural environment from harmful exotic plant pests and disease.

This event will take place on Wednesday 20th March from 09:30 - 10:30 GMT (20:30-21:30 AEDT).

 

Audience 

This event is open to all, but will be particularly relevant to scientists including those working in areas related to plant health. 

 

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) 

This event is approved by the Royal Society of Biology for purposes of CPD and can be counted as 3 CPD points. If you are a member of the Plant Health professional register, this CPD contributes to maintaining your registration.
